Cristina Falsone
Cristina Falsone is an independent fashion designer, founder of CANICATTIVA, and a PhD Candidate in Design for Made in Italy at the University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli. Her practice combines upcycling, design research, and sartorial knowledge rooted in her family's craft tradition, shaped by studies at the Academy of Fine Arts of Palermo, IUAV University of Venice, and the DTFC Master's programme in Bologna. As part of her PhD research, she recently spent six months at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon, collaborating with Lisbon Fashion Week.
In 2023, she founded CANICATTIVA, and her project PARASULI — which transforms discarded beach umbrellas into outerwear and accessories — received a Special Mention from Legambiente Sicilia in 2024 and is now a candidate for the ADI Design Index 2027. Her work has also been the subject of a Rai 1 news segment dedicated to her and to PARASULI. Alongside her design work, she leads participatory workshops on upcycling and craftsmanship, and is a member of ADI, the Italian Association for Industrial Design.
